Anti-polio campaign resumes in Khyber

Author: Ahmad Nabi

After remaining suspended for four months, a seven-day-long anti- polio drive will resum from today (Monday) in Khyber district, an official of the Health Department said. On April 26, 2019, fake propaganda was spread that approximately 1,000 children of two private schools of Mashu Khel, Badhber, the suburb areas of Peshawar, fell ill after allegedly being administered anti-polio drops. The news frightened a large number of parents across the country and they refused to get the anti-polio drops administered to their children, forcing the Health Department to suspend the anti-polio drive. Sharing details regarding the campaign, Field Surveillance Medical Officer (FSMO) Dr Usman said that the current drive will cover the whole of Khyber district, except some villages in Tirah Valley where residents were still internally displaced.
