Two women among four dead in road mishap

Four commuters, including two women, were killed while at least one-and-a-half dozen passengers sustained serious wounds when a speeding coach coming from Karachi collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction on the Shikarpur-Khanpur Indus Highway on Sunday.

According to details, Zuhran, 55, Farhana, 25, Jahangir Khan, Muhammad Majeed Bugti were killed on the spot.

The area police, with the help of rescue teams, immediately transported the bodies and the injured to Khanpur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital from where at least a dozen passengers were referred to Sukkur and Shikarpur District Headquarters hospitals for further medical treatment owing to their precarious condition.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Khanpur-Shikarpur is most important and single line highway and it connects Punjab, KP and Sindh. Due to heavy traffic, many fatal incidents take place, mainly because of speeding.

Separately, the body of a 45-year-old woman identified as Mahar Khatoon, wife of Muhammad Amin Kharoos, was found from her house in Haji Habib Kharoos village of Jhali Kalwari town.

Area police moved the body of the deceased woman to Lakhi Ghulam Shah Hospital and initiated investigation.
