ISLAMABAD: The military leaders of Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to take defence and military ties to new heights, besides strengthening strategic relations between the two countries.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Turkish Chief of General Staff General Hulusi Akar called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mahmood at the Joint Staff Headquarters on Thursday.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman also attended the meeting. Matters of mutual interest, with emphasis on geo-strategic situation and security challenges, came under discussion during the meeting. Both sides reaffirmed the resolve to further the bond of friendship and enhance bilateral cooperation between the two armed forces. The visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of the Pakistani armed forces and acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism, an ISPR spokesman said.
