The rising influence of foreign dramas in our local content

Author: Zainab Batool

Globalisation is one of the factors through which many things have been adopted of different countries.

Dramas are at the top which are influencing on Pakistani culture. Culture is the identification of every country which symbolises identity. Pakistan has also its own culture but now through foreign drama’s changing our own identification or uniqueness which shows through our culture. Turkish dramas are popular at this time. Youngsters, amazed at viewing foreign dramas. Stories are spoiling the mindset of our mindset of our people. Likewise, Indian dramas are influencing over our culture as well. This culture has too much influence over us. Language, belief, and all are our culture is changing. If the circumstances will remain like this soon or later we would lose our identity. If we gaze around us. We could observe there are lots of control of other culture on our culture the way they dress up and the way they speak and all these.

The Pakistan film industry fully adopts Indian culture. Dressing style, are fully of Indian. Recently, Film was released name ‘Parey Hut Love’ and ‘Superstar’. These movies have fully adopted Indian culture. There is no specific story we could met up with but Indian culture. In our normal day life we speak some words of Hindi. Turkish as so much popular soon or later we adopt their life style too. Our national dress is shalwar, kamiz and women wears duppata with it, but after watching Indian and English channels we forgot our traditional cloths and wears western dresses. By watching English channels and Indian channels we adopt wearing jeans, t-shirt, etc. Even Women and girls started wearing these clothes. If we take a look on our foods we mostly like broast, zinger burger and other western foods. We all have forgotten our desi foods which is our traditional foods. Similarly, in our festivals like weeding we took many illogical or useless customs or traditions without thinking weather is it a part of our culture or not? Religious priorities are changing due to this.

If our culture would change, we would not have any identification through which we show our existence. Culture, religion and norms are the things which make values and through these, a nation can easily be recognised in the world. But unfortunately, we, by our lack of knowledge are inhaling different cultures, beliefs and thoughts of different foreign dramas.
