LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has appointed the media friendly former federal minister for information and governor Gilgit-Biltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira as the party’s central Punjab President and Nadeem Afzal Chann as Secretary General.

The appointments were confirmed by the party head after holding a long discussion and consultation with the PPP’s Provincial Coordination Committee members including Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhry Manzoor and others in a meeting here at Bilawal House at Behria Town on Friday. Bilawal also appointed Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar as PPP Central Punjab Information Secretary.

After the appointment, Qamar Zaman Kaira declared that he would give his best efforts to boost the party and the leadership would not be disheartened by his appointment in Punjab. He also thanked the party leadership for assigning him a position of such responsibility. Commenting on the PPP’s unpopularity in the province of Punjab, he said that many other parties had come and gone but Bhutto’s party-the PPP-was here to stay.

Showing commitment to raise the party again in Punjab like Sindh, he vowed that they would emerge in the province of Punjab. He was also optimistic about overcoming the plight being faced by the party in Punjab nowadays. Qamar Zaman Kaira, born in 1960, completed his master’s degree in Philosophy of Politics from Punjab University in 1985. He also remained a student of FG Community College Kharian and Forman Christian College Lahore.
