RAWALPINDI: The Education Department Punjab has directed the authorities to extend the contracts of around 25000 teachers from Punjab including Rawalpindi district for further one year.

According to media reports, the contract of only those educators is being extended at present, whose contract is expiring on 30th June 2017. A notification in this regard has been issued. The notification will be applicable in the 36 districts located in Punjab.

This initiative has been taken in advance as the contract of the teachers will expire before Eid, and if their contract is not renewed then they will not be paid salaries. The notification further says that if any educator is not paid salary on-time and before Eid-ul-Fitr then strict action will taken against the person responsible on this count.
