Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her cousin Yousuf Abbas’s physical remand was extended by 14 days on Wednesday and the two will now be presented in the accountability court on September 4.

Maryam had appeared before an accountability court today in connection with the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

During the proceedings, NAB’s lawyer said that the investigations with Maryam had not yet been completed and requested an extension in remand for that purpose.

In response, Maryam’s lawyer Advocate Amjad Pervez said that the investigation had been carried out in all cases and the trial had been completed.

The prosecutor was of the view that Maryam remained the director of Chaudhry Sugar Mills from 1992 to 1997. He apprised the court that shares worth Rs8.4 million were now worth Rs41 million. “Information regarding the purchase of shares is not being provided.”

Maryam made headlines with her scathing criticism of the government, especially Prime Minister Imran Khan. She also released a purported video of Arshad Malik, an accountability judge who sentenced Nawaz Sharif in Al-Azizia case, last month wherein the judge could be heard saying that he convicted the ex-prime minister under duress.

Both Maryam and Yousaf have been ordered to appear before the court on September 4.
