Khanpur Deputy Superintendent of Police Rao Shafiullah was martyred while a few police personnel sustained grave bullet wounds in an exchange of fire with notorious dacoits at riverine area of Khanpur, Ghari Tegho, some 80 kilometers away from Shikarpur, on Tuesday.

According to reports, Rao Shafiullah, along with a heavy contingent of police, was conducting a search operation to rescue detained/kidnapped team of musicians and famous Sindhi Singer Jagar Jalal, who along with team had been kidnapped on Sunday. During the search operation, dacoits started firing on police party, which resulting, Rao Shaifullah, the DSP, was martyred on the spot while a few police personnel sustained bullet injuries.

Farooque Amjad, the Assistant Superintendent of Police Shikarpur, while talking to this reporter on phone, confirmed the incident and claimed that police also have killed three dacoits, whose names would be shared with media after a while, and further said that heavy contingent of police have sieged the area and was certain that detained Sindhi Singer Jigar Jalal would be recovered and dacoits would be arrested to maintain law and order situation.

The funeral prayers ceremony of martyred DSP will be held [today] at Police Headquarters Shikarpur in which DIG Larkana Irfan Baloch and other high officers are expected to attend the funeral prayers ceremony.

It is noteworthy that a famous singer of Sindh and his team held hostages by a few unknown Teghani community persons when famous singer Jigir Jalal was called to perform in the wedding ceremony held at Katcha area of Napar-Kot while advance payment was made through easy paisa account after receiving payment singer reached at the desired venue and he along with his team held hostage. It is also worthwhile to mention here that two police officers, one APC driver have also embraced martyrdom and many police personnel have also sustained grave bullet wounds in firing with dacoits at Katcha area of Chak town in previous month. The people of Shikarpur asked for the Chief Minister of Sindh, IGP Sindh, Additional IGP Sukkur Dr Jameel Ahmed to take notice and devise comprehensive strategy to cope with dacoits for the welfare of the people of Sindh.
