Tree plantation campaign begins in parts of country

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday planted a sapling in the main lawn of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad as part of ‘Clean and Green’ drive of the government.

On the occasion, the minister held special prayer for security of Pakistan and innocent Muslims of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK).

Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood, Special Secretary Moazzam Ahmad and other senior officials of the ministry were also present.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that saplings were being planted to achieve the target of increasing forest in the country. “We are determined to making Pakistan green,” he added. The police, MCI and the CDA also took part in the campaign.

The chief minister, in a statement, said, “Plant for Pakistan” was a movement, being run under Prime Minister Imran Khan to turn the land of Pakistan green. Back in the month of September 2018, a tree plantation campaign titled ‘Plant for Pakistan’ was launched across the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had formally launched the drive by planting a sapling in Haripur district.
