LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday made a surprise visit to Data Darbar amid high security and prayed for the success of his party in Punjab.

PPP Punjab’s newly appointed President Qamar Zaman Kaira, Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan and around 200 devoted PPP followers along with local party leaders accompanied the PPP chairman on the occasion.

People gathered at the darbar, in connection with the death anniversary (Urs) of Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA), were pleased to see the son of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto among them and chanted slogans in favour of the party.

“I came here to pray for my party’s success in Punjab,” Bilawal said while addressing the media after praying at the shrine. “PPP seeks democratic accountability in Panama leaks case.”

He reiterated his already announced four demands to the government, including implementation on the resolution regarding China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, reconstitution of a parliamentary committee on national security, passing of the Panama Bill drafted by PPP, and immediate appointment of a foreign minister. He warned that his party would hold countrywide protests if the demands were not met.

Bilawal said that democratic accountability over the government’s failure in elimination of terrorism should be held, adding that his party also sought an effective foreign policy along with an active foreign minister in the country to deal with the issues faced by the Pakistan at international level.

The PPP chairman further warned the government that if it failed to make effective foreign policy and appoint a foreign minister immediately, his party would start a “Go Nawaz Go” movement. He demanded the government to take resignation of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ahmad Khan, who was on a foreign tour these days.

On a query regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his future, Bilawal, on a light note, said that he would also pray for “Chacha Gee” (Uncle Imran Khan) so that he respects all parties and spreads the message of tolerance among his ranks.
