Shopping for wedding season made easier

LAHORE: The first instalment of The Wedding Directory was held at The Nishat Hotel on Wednesday, organised and arranged by Noori Malik.

Considering how the wedding season has arrived with the current winters, The Wedding Directory proved to be a roaring success with the masses. Women of all ages and all walks of life thronged the premises to get their hands on the very economical and affordable outfits, jewellery and accessories, in tune with the wedding functions that the city experiences all season round.

“We made it a point that those designers who are in actuality extremely talented, but don’t get a chance to muster clientele owing to scarce resources or contacts, get a chance with The Wedding Directory to make sales and customers. Our main focus was that these fashion and jewellery designers get a chance to showcase their talent and stay with us for the second instalment of The Wedding Season as well. I loved how they were able to sell bulk of their stock and experience sky-rocketing sales,” Noor Malik, the force behind The Wedding Directory said, while talking exclusively to Daily Times.

A total of 17 designers exhibited their wedding outfit and jewellery collections, out of whom, some were big names of the industry as well. Aaghaz, Ahmad Bilal Couture, Asifa & Nabeel, Erum Khan, House of Kamiar Rokni, Iquera Jewellery, Khadijah & Ubaid at House of Samhan, Mariam Madiha, Nauranngg, Project Rich, Rana Noman Studio, Rawaj by Pinx, Sarwani, Saima Chaudhry, Siemens Home Appliances and Time & Jewellery were the ones participating.

We were in awe of the jewellery display as well as the very nominally-priced wedding outfits.

Aaghaz is one of those brands that deserve a special mention for their stunning jewellery items and extremely affordable prices. We couldn’t stop ourselves from purchasing their chunky rings in bulk.

Mariam Madiha exhibited some of the most intricately-done wedding apparel and exquisite outfits with motifs, embroidery, embellishments and matching lowers. “We are providing custom-made outfits and have been busy taking orders since we got here,” Madiha Mahmood said, also while talking exclusively to Daily Times.

However, it was Madiha Saail’s Project Rich that seemed to be attracting the most clientele. Her jewellery items spoke volumes about the young designer’s eye for art and detail.

The gorgeous décor of the exhibition was done by Malik herself. “I made a list of all upcoming and low-profile designers who need platforms like these to showcase their work and then got in touch with them,” she said.

Malik’s effort in putting together The Wedding Directory paid off. We need such wedding exhibitions more than these designers need us, for reasons such as affordability and easy accessibility.

The PR of the event that started from 11am until 11pm, was managed by the creative team behind Bilal Mukhtar Events & PR.
