Army chief steps down expressing pride in military achievements

ISLAMABAD:Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday said that Operation Zarb-e-Azb hasimmensely contributed to the security situation, resulting into a more stable Pakistan with sense of greater hope and direction.

While addressing a gathering of Pakistani army officials and Ranger troops during his farewell visit to the Garrison, he expressed gratitudefor their services under his command.He further added that it was a matter of great pride for him to have commanded the finest Army in the world.

Army Chief perceived the accomplishment of peace and stability as an extra ordinary task.  He said that “It was our sacrifices and joint national resolve which helped us propel against all odds hinderingsuccess of our country.”

“We are fully prepared to respond to any challenge and no one could dare cast an evil eye on Pakistan”, he emphasised.

“Pakistani people are the most resilient and brave nation in the world who have always persevered in adverse conditions,” he said.

He urged the troops to sustain their rich military traditions with even greater vigour and continue serving their people with utmost dedication, resilience and the greater sense of sacrifice.
