Author: Asif Murad Umrani

The economy of Pakistan with due respect to the title Agricultural Country largely depends on its agricultural sector. The agricultural sector of Pakistan is the intimate hub of revenue and monetary. The economic instability of Pakistan is obvious. Meanwhile, the small ratio of economical development is also derived from agricultural sector. It is meant to be the backbone and greatest wealth of Pakistan as vast plains.

Furthermore, Almighty Allah has bestowed Pakistan a diverse weather that is no doubt a blessing because we get different fruits and vegetables in four different seasons but regretfully, we do not restore them and give reference more to imports than exports.

Overall, Pakistan’s agriculture sector contributes 18.9 percent to the Gross Domestic Product and absorbs 42.3 percent of labour force. This clearly shows how it has a prominent role in its state. It accompanies with a great opportunity of employment as 55 percent of Pakistan population is associated with agriculture. Around 63 percent of country population live in rural areas is indirectly or directly linked with this sector for their livelihood. It is noteworthy to mention 70pc exports generated but still no one knows where and how the money is invested on public.

Besides, despite vast plains and world’s best irritation system, country is not self sufficient in agriculture. There innumerable problems emerge in the path of agricultural development. First, financial. The negligence of the government and inadequate funds allocation has severely devastated the present condition of agriculture, creating a dark image for the farmers.
