LAHORE: Ajoka theatre will present a new play for theatre lovers to highlight and create awareness on the issue of death penalty.
The play is being performed in collaboration with British theatre groups, Complicite and High Light Arts.
In this connection, a nine-day workshop was held to develop the play as well as to build the capacity of team members. Complicite’s Dina Mousavi and Ryan Van Winkle from High Light Arts came from the UK specially to train the play members.
Dina Mousavi is a British theatre, film and TV actor, with expertise in training the youth for theatre. While Ryan is a well-known poet and a cultural activist associated with High light Arts.
During the workshop, Ajoka actors learned true stories of the victims of capital punishment and the penalty’s impact on the punished and their families. Their learning was facilitated by Justice Project Pakistan. The play will be performed in April next year in Lahore and other cities.
