According to NAB, Yousaf Abbas, the nephew of Nawaz Sharif, has also been arrested in the same case and both will be presented before an accountability court in Lahore for remand.
Following the arrest, PML-N workers started protesting outside the Kot Lakhpat jail. They chanted slogans against the government and the NAB and tried to come in front of the vehicles carrying Maryam. The PML-N has reportedly directed party MPAs and MNAs from Lahore to reach the accountability court along with the workers where Maryam will be presented today.
Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif will also appear in the court today for hearing of their cases.
PML-N Information Secretary Maryam Aurangzeb said that Maryam Nawaz was summoned to appear before NAB at 3pm but she was arrested at 1pm, adding that the NAB team reached Kot Lakhpat jail even before the arrival of Maryam.
