Question of an upturn of the e-learning system

Author: Rameen Shahid

A dilemma of unrectified education system of Pakistan future indescribable to most which
play an important role in guiding people about outer world transparency has been
enormously affected since the past arena. Augmentation of e-learning overtaking the entities
is playing a significant role in prospering the education system worldwide. Not only the
individuals but the organizations, and societies are also gaining benefits by raising
awareness with a single click. A tap that can connect virtually everyone outside a person’s
range. A knowledge that can be enhanced by connecting worldwide with great scholars and
educationalists.

Virtual University
The responsibility of educating the masses is huge and in Pakistan where the population is
divided among rural and urban groups is another task. The virtual education became
prominent in Pakistan when university with name Virtual University came into being in 2002
with an aim to promote e-learning in Pakistan. It has gained enough highlight for educators
to come into a world of newness but with that came loopholes.

Access to e-learning
Extended hurdles towards educating e-learning programs led to a decline with technological
gaps becoming more prominent. It can be referred to as a hope for many as its exploration
has a great beneficial spread over the entire community especially for women residing in
rural areas who can be made literate with the distance learning system. Also, people having any
physical complications or financial constraints can overcome their problems using distance
learning as a medium for educating themselves according to their needs.

Educational Transformation
This educational transformation is now changing the ways of educational delivery models
globally. In developed countries with no technological constraint, it has become the need for
researchers. It has become the most feasible form of acquiring knowledge at hand. Pakistan
is still lagging in the educational sector where only a few universities are offering distance
learning system. Not enough focus is given to bring more development in this sector. It brings
global study into a country. Also provides immense opportunities to connect with the outer
world and achieve more innovating techniques through sharing and build more connections.

The time is evolving from these traditions to more advanced virtual/e-learning programs
where countries like the United States has already made a mark into this field of e-learning. The
beginning of a rise in this field is visibly improving and gaining much power nowadays with
magnification in its roots. It is now a time that Pakistan’s government should focus its
awareness towards building more virtual educational universities or offer more e-learning
programs in universities. For this to become possible, appropriate policies, measures and
subsidies need to be given to this sector for the establishment of more reliable institutions.
