The police claimed to have arrested the rapist of an eight-year-old girl who was raped on June 28. Additional Inspector General of Police Sukkur Dr Jamil Ahmed revealed this during a press conference held at the SSP Office in Shikarpur on Sunday.

Dr Jamil elaborated that an eight-year-old girl, the daughter of Badaruddin Khoso and a resident of Allah Bux Khoso village, within the limits of Amrote Sharif Police Station, was raped last week. He said the girl revealed that a man namely Mehboob Ali Banglani had raped her. He said the accused was a father of five children, who had illicit relations with Ms Imamzadi, a close relative of victim girl. He said Imamzadi sent the girl to the accused’s house on the pretext of collecting her gift. He said that the accused was standing outside his house when victim girl reached there. He said the man took her to an undisclosed location, where he allegedly raped her and then left her outside her village.

The Sukkur AIG further said that concerned police have lodged an FIR [5/2019] under section 376/334 PPC against accused and succeeded in arresting him after tremendous efforts and presented him before media, on the questions of journalists, accused confessed his crime before police and journalists.

Separately, Regional Police Officer Sukkur further revealed that two accused namely Liaquat Ali Odho and Shoukat Ali Odho involved in another rape case have also been apprehended by Shikarpur Police adding both the accused allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl, the daughter of Ashraf Ali, on June 27.
