ISLAMABAD: The corrupt mafia has started plundering the poor students in the name of admission into the College of Medical Technology (CMT) in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

The corrupt mafia is reported to have committed robbery on the pockets of students from poor families on the false assurance that they would help them seek admission into CMT and the students have paid enormous amount to these touts of corrupt elements by taking loans from their relatives but the thing which is called admission has become a distant dream for them. They still stand deprived of admissions.

They students are being forced to pay bribery running into hefty money ranging between Rs 600000 to Rs 70000 despite the fact that they meet all the norms of merit. One Sher Afzal, a staunch tout of college principal Dr Naseer and chief nurse Farzana Islam, collects the bribery. The students are being looted in the name of the canteen as well.

Every student is charged Rs 3000 every month but sub-standard and unhygienic meal is served to them in the canteen. The students have lodged complaints against this injustice with the principal several times but all in vain. The Principal, Dr Nasir, has not even bothered to conduct any inquiry into this broad daylight robbery.

As many as three applications have been sent to the Vice Chancellor Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University against the extortion of money from the students in the name of admission.

The VC has constituted an inquiry committee and has directed it to hold an inquiry into the matter. But the corrupt elements are browbeating and intimidating the principal and the students who have lodged complaint. They are pressurising students to withdraw their applications. One student among the applications has been tortured and forced to go back to her home.

The tale of tyranny is still continuing as Principal Dr Naseer has asked the tortured girl student to give a statement to him in writing that she is returning to her home willingly. The handicapped girl student has gone back to her home. When contacted, chairman Inquiry committee Professor Ansar told Daily Times that an inquiry was under way in this respect which will be finalised within a few days.

V.C Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, professor Javed Akram told Daily Times that the disabled student who was subjected to thrashing and violence will be provided justice.
