US ambassador discusses war on terror with COAS

RAWALPINDI: United States Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale met Army Chief General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters on Friday

The US ambassador praised the Pakistan Army’s role in fighting terrorism. “Under the leadership of General Raheel Sharif, Pakistan Army has gained important victories in the war against terrorism,” the US diplomat remarked.

Speaking to journalists in Islamabad before leaving for Okara, the army chief had an informal chat with journalists.“I have faith that Pakistanis will fight the war against terror. I have faith that this land of the pure will get rid of terrorists,” he said.

On a query regarding his retirement, he said, “I took this decision in favour of the country. I am always available to serve the country.”
