Justice Khosa sworn in as acting CJP

ISLAMABAD: Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa has taken oath as acting chief justice of Pakistan. The oath was administered by Justice Dost Muhammad Khan in a ceremony in the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, advocate general Islamabad, senior lawyers and law officers.

Officers and staff of the Supreme Court of Pakistan were also present at the occasion. SC Registrar Arbab Muhammad Arif conducted the proceedings. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa will act as chief justice of Pakistan during the period Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar remains abroad. Earlier on Wednesday, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had proceeded to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. Before his departure, he had taken notice of the death of a traffic police constable in Quetta after he was hit by a vehicle allegedly driven by an MPA. The CJP had directed the Balochistan inspector general of police (IGP) to submit a report about the incident within three days. He had also directed the Dera Ghazi Khan DPO to ensure that there was no pressure on the family of deceased police officer.
