Morai taken into custody, released

KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies, once again, arrested former chairman Fishermen co-operative Society Dr Nisar Morai, and released him in the late hours of Saturday. He has recently been released on bail, Morai a close aide of Asif Ali Zardari and is the prime suspect in the murder case of ex chairman Pakistan Steel sajjad Hussain.

Morai was arrested at the main entrance of the City Courts by the LEA personal.

According to sources the counsel of Nisar Morai inquired about the reason of his arrest, the rangers personal told him that his client would be released soon after being questioned.

Sources told Daily Times that Morai had been picked up in connection with the seizure of a heavy cache of weapons from in front of a house which belongs to him.

Eight bags full of weapons were found from the garbage dump which included seven M4 rifles, six sub-machine guns, two 7mm rifles, two rifles, four 12-bore, one G3, one 222 rifle and two
9mm pistols.

Prior to this he as arrested on March 10, 2016 by the LEA’s from Islamabad and was shifted to Karachi. He was remanded into Rangers custody for 90 days under section 11EEEE (3) of the anti terrorism act 1997.

The investigators claimed they had ‘credible’ information about his involvement in target killings and extortion.

After being in custody for more than six months Morai finally got bail from the Sindh High Court on October
17, 2016.
