QUETTA: Unidentified assailants on Saturday shot dead two security guards of a gas exploration company near the Pasni area of Gwadar District.
Levies sources said that the guards were deployed for security of a survey team of Coal Geophysical Company (CGC). The company was conducting a survey for exploration of natural gas in Pasni.
“The armed men ambushed security guards with sophisticated weapons by opening volley of bullets on them,” they said, adding that leaving two security guards critically injured.
The assailants managed to escape from the scene.
Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Tufail Baloch said the security guards resisted the armed attackers.
“The gun battle remained for a while which left two security guards injured,” he said.
The injured guards succumbed to their injuries on their way to a hospital.
Law enforcers cordoned off the entire area to trace out the suspects. Further probe was underway.
