ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has appointed the daughter of a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) official in the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s law division in violation of laws regarding recruitment, a source told Daily Times.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Nafees Zakaria confirmed that Barrister Aliya Rashid, daughter of Nargis Rashid, had been inducted in the ministry but there is no financial matter involved.
NAB Director General (DG) Nargis Rashid has allegedly got her daughter inducted by using her powers, the source confirmed.
NAB is probing senior hierarchy of the Foreign Ministry on corruption charges in illustrious National Bank Bangladesh branch scam involving more than Rs 25 billion and illegal allotment of a plot to a private school.
A few days Nargis Rashid had visited the ministry to address a group of officers and delivered a mind blowing lecture on corruption. She also advised the officers to abstain from committing wrong practices as anti-corruption body is too active to take action against the persons who found guilty of any wrong practice.
Before leaving the Foreign Office, she asked Aizaz Chaudhry to induct her daughter in the ministry. In order to please her Chaudhry directed his subordinate to adjust the NAB DG’s daughter as soon as possible. The next day Nargis Rashid’s daughter started working for the ministry.
When contacted Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria, he said Aliya has been hired as an “internee”. He said a number of other individuals are also working in the ministry as internees.
