KARACHI: Unidenti fied assailants on Sunday gunned down Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Faiz Ali Shigri and an Ahmadi man in separate incidents of target killing.
According to details, the police officer was travelling in his car near Alladin Park, Rashid Minhas Road when he was attacked by the unidentified assailants. The DSP, a Shia Muslim, was deputed at airport traffic section.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought report from IG AD Khawaja.
Separately, an Ahmadi man was shot dead in an apparent sectarian attack in Gulzar-e-Hijri, according to Sachal police and the community official. They added when Sheikh Sajid Mehmood, 55, came out of his home in Kaneez Fatima Society four attackers riding two motorcycles opened fire on him and fled from the scene.
Meanwhile, another senior police officer was targeted late on Sunday night in Karachi. According to police, assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on Gulberg DSP Zafar Hussain’s vehicle on University, but he remained unharmed.
