LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi on Monday announced to name World Boxing Council (WBC) silver flyweight champion Muhammad Waseem as his franchise’s ambassador.
He also announced a Rs. 2.5 million reward for Waseem, who recently defended his silver flyweight title against Philippines’ Giemel Magramo in Seoul, South Korea.
“I hereby announce Rs. 2.5 million for World Boxing Champion Muhd Waseem. He’s a real Hero of Pakistan. PZF vows 2 sponsor him in upcoming events,” Afridi said in a tweet.

The Quetta-born boxer outplayed Magreamo, undefeated in his previous 17 bouts, in a tough 12-round fight and won by a 3-0 unanimous decision.
Waseem, known as ‘Falcon Khan’, is scheduled to arrive at Islamabad later in the day. In his second tweet Afridi vowed to give the boxer a “rousing welcome”.
“We will give him rousing welcome tonight at Islamabad airport at 10.30pm. Announce him as Zalmi’s PSL ambassador, we back national heroes,” his tweet said.
