Injured Haseeb Hameed to head back home

Author: Sports Desk

England’s teenage opener Haseeb Hameed will leave England mid-tour due to a broken finger, England captain Alastair Cook revealed during the post-match ceremony of the third of the four-Test series against India at Mohali.

England were outclassed by off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as he dismissed Cook, Moeen Ali, and Ben Stokes to give India an upper hand. The tourists were restricted to a paltry 236 with Hameed leading the resistance.

Nicknamed as ‘Baby Boycott’, the right-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 59 in 170, his second fifty-plus score of the tour, with the injured finger. Making his debut during the first Test of the tour, the 19-year-old has impressed with his outstanding temperament and batting prowess when he struck a second innings 82.
