RAWALPINDI: Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa asserted on Tuesday that the Line of Control’s (LoC) situation ‘would soon improve’.
He said this – off the record – to media personnel in the city’s Army Hockey Stadium after he took over the army chief’s position.
“I have been assigned a very tough job and I need your prayers. I will need the support of the Pakistani media as well,” the military chief said.
The newly-appointed army chief said that commanding the Pakistan Army was a challenging job – for which he needed the media’s support – but he promised to safeguard the country from any internal or external threats and achieve further victories in the fight against terrorism.
The general further suggested that the media should continue to play its part in sustaining ‘high moral of the Pakistan Army’ and that he will soon call the media industry’s professionals on a luncheon.
Bajwa took charge of the Pakistan Army following General Raheel Sharif’s retirement on November 29 as the country’s 16th army chief.
