Every four years, we are presented with mesmerising and patriotic songs around every World Cup series.

Hence, it is justified to say that cricket and music are inseparable.

While the teams compete on the ground, the entertainment industry takes over the media outlets. Exhilarating songs are heard on every nook and corner. Young kids are seen dancing to the lifting beats whereas the youth use it as a boosting material while they play cricket on the streets.

On both sides of the border, the World Cup songs trend on top and the much talked about “mauka mauka” advertisement was also back with the Father’s Day twist this year.

Although the official song of 2019 International Cricket Council World Cup was “Stand By” by Loryn, the evergreen “Feel the Magic in the Air” stole the show again at a global level.

On the local level, multiple songs were igniting the fire in cricket fanatics all over the country. The much-awaited Junoon reunion has happened in the wake of this world cup and their anthem “Choolein Aasman” has broken all the records.

At the same time, Coke Studio’s latest music release “Hum Aik Hain” a rendition of the famous song “Iss Parcham Keh Saye Talay Ham Ek Hain”, struck a chord with every Pakistani and was being widely played on all sports channels between the intervals.

Another, such upbeat song for the World Cup was “Humari Bari”, the official anthem by Ten Sports. The song featured local talent Shany and Abid Brohi and has a very hip hop tone. The listeners have a plethora of options to please their ear buds.

No matter which song is a favourite among the crowd, the feeling of patriotism is common in all of them. New songs might be making their way in the hearts of the cricket fans but there are some everlasting songs like “Dil dil Pakistan and “Hai koi hum jesa” which have made a permanent spot which exhilarates the spirit of cricket and patriotism in all Pakistanis.

Times may change but music will always provide a common voice to fans to show their passion for cricket.
