In-patient beds capacity of SKMCH&RC Peshawar increased

In-Patient beds capacityof Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) Peshawar has been increased from twenty (20) to thirty (30) beds. The addition will help serve more patients to cater to the ever increasing numbers of patients at the facility.

SKMCH&RC Peshawar has completed three successful years of operations,and has now entered its third and last phase, in which construction of new operation rooms will commence in the latter half of this year. Since its inception, the hospital has seen continuous increase in the number of patients coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwaand adjoining areas to seek state-of-the-art cancer treatment, which is provided free to about seventy five percent (75%) of poor and deserving cancer patients.

It is pertinent to mention that, as part of Phase I of the project, the Hospital already has functional Outpatient Clinics, Inpatient Rooms, Intensive Care Unit, Chemotherapy, Walk-in Clinic, Emergency Assessment Room, Pathology and Radiology services. In the second phase, Radiation bunkers were constructed and two state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator machines installed at the newly constructed Radiation Oncology Department to commence Radiation services at the facility. SKMCH&RC Peshawar has become a center of hope for thousands of poor and deserving cancer patient for not only the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining arears but also for people from Afghanistan.
