ISLAMABAD: New Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa assured the nation that the situation on the LoC would be normalised soon because India knew Pakistan’s capabilities very well.

He was talking to media personnel on Tuesday after assuming charge here at Army Hockey Stadium Rawalpindi. In an informal conversation, the COAS said that he needed media support to overcome the challenges, and that the media should work to keep the morale of the army high.

“There are huge responsibilities on my shoulders now and I shall try my best to meet the expectations of the nation. I need prayers of all segments of society,” General Bajwa said. “If a former Indian army chief has praised me, then it’s a good sign, because it means that they know our professionalism.”

General Bajwa met the mother of a martyr as well, promising to take care of all martyrs’ families. He also met with schoolchildren and took pictures with the general public. On the other hand ,the spokesman of inter services public relations Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa clarified that no transfer postings had been made yet, and the media should refrain from such news.

Talking to media, he said that in the past few days, baseless propaganda had been stirred up regarding army and its leadership which was unfortunate. He called upon the media to fulfil its duties responsibly. He said that no new appointments had been made in the army yet.
