Early dip in gas pressure irks consumers in Rawalpindi

Author: By Iqbal Malik

RAWALPINDI: The tremendous dip of about 80 per cent in gas pressure noticed far before the advent of the full winter season has not only extinguished the stoves at homes but also the tyrannical load shedding being observed from 500 hrs to 2300 hrs daily has led to inflate the cost of 45 kilogram gas cylinder so much so that its price has spiralled upward from Rs 4000 to Rs 5000 with shocking abruptness.

The price of fire wood has skyrocketed from Rs 300 per maund to Rs 600 per maund and the coal rate is spiralling out of control soaring to Rs 80 per kilogram.

The Sui gas crunch is roaring with its ugly head in the thickly populated areas of Sadiq Abad, Muslim town, Dhok Kala Khan, Chah Sultan, Dhok Elahi Bakhsh, Dhok Khabba, Pir Wadhai, Ratta Amral, Dhok Ratta, Dhok Hussoo, Dhok Mangtal and other urban areas and scuttling the daily routine of kitchen life as gas is a thing which has become next to nil for the residents of these settlements.

“No meal” board is seen sticking on the doors of kitchens jeering at the inmates as the process of cooking has come to a halt from 5 a.m to 11 p.m due to the persistent suspension of gas supply.

Taking mileage out of this nerve wrecking situation at homes, the Nanbais have raised the price of chappati by two rupees and gravy manifold.

The students , working women and government employees in the aforementioned areas are forced to proceed to their offices without having any breakfast.

The citizens have demanded of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and SUI gas authorities to ensure the smooth supply of gas to them otherwise they would be forced to go to the streets.
