LAHORE: The team of Ajoka theatre returned to Pakistan after performing its landmark theatre play “Bullah” at the city of Helsingor, Denmark.
The chief guests at the event were the Ambassador of Denmark in Pakistan Ole Thonke and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Denmark Mansoor Junejo.
While talking exclusively to Daily Times, Ajoka Theatre Spokesman Qasim Ali gave details of the visit and said that the Ajoka team had visited Denmark on the invitation from the Danish Centre of Culture & Development for a week. Apart from the play, Ajoka musicians also performed a qawwali and devotional music at the World Culture Centre in Copenhagen on Friday which concluded with “Damadam mast qalandar”, he added.
He further informed that the Danish ambassador praised the play and said that it was a great honour and privilege to be there and enjoy the soulful performance. About the theme, the ambassador said that the play carried a powerful message which was written three centuries ago but was equally relevant even today. He added that the cultural ties between Denmark and Pakistan were strengthening and it was great that a group from Pakistan had visited Helsingor.
Both the performances were well received by Danish theatre lovers and the Pakistani community living there, Qasim added.
