Left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir was cautioned by team management in regard to his statements about the dropped chances off his bowling, media reported on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old has been unlucky since his return in the international cricket. He has seen 11 chances in the longer version alone being put down.
In an interview, during the recently concluded Hamilton Test, Amir had said that the dropped catches frustrate him but the harm the team more.
“Yes, it affects the bowler when you run from 22 yards and your catch is dropped – you’re disappointed and frustrated. “But it affects the team more than the individual. I’ve been very unlucky, but I try to be a team man.
“It’s difficult to keep count, but I think at least 12-13 catches have gone down off my bowling in Tests and about six-seven catches have been dropped in the shorter formats as well,” he said.
It has been learned that the team management has asked the bowler to refrain from issuing such comments in the future.
The PCB Media Department, however, refuted any such development terming it “devoid of facts”.
“It is to clarify that the news circulating in the media regarding Mohammad Amir being issued a warning from the team management for showing displeasure over dropped catches on his bowling is baseless. It is to mention here that the news is devoid of facts. It is absolutely concocted as no such warning was issued,” PCB said in a media release.
