Hammad Azhar was appointed as the Federal Minister for Revenue Division on Tuesday but on the next day, the portfolio of federal ministry has been taken back from him.

On 8 July, it has been announced by the Cabinet Division that the Former Minister of Revenue, Hammad Azhar, will be shifted from the former ministry to federal ministry.

Azhar’s ascension removed Dr Hafeez Shaikh, the adviser to the prime minister on finance, from the Ministry of revenue and economic affairs and has been restored to the office of Revenue Division adviser.

According to private sources, the change in Azhar’s role came after Dr Shaikh expressed reservations over the withdrawal of the Revenue Division portfolio from him.

As per the latest update, a notification has been issued by the cabinet division on July 9 in which the cabinet announced that the portfolio of the adviser to the prime minister on finance, revenue and economic affairs is again given to Hafeez Shaikh.
