Author: Staff Report

MIRPURKHAS: The Sindh High Court (SHC)’s Hyderabad Circuit bench comprising Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Muhammad Iqbal Mahar, expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of action against the quacks, have directed the Sindh Health Department to form special teams for a crackdown against fake doctors. The court has also ordered the health authorities to provide all required facilities like transport, fuel and the police assistance to the said teams. The SHC has also directed the Sindh Health Department to ensure that the pharmacies should not provide medicines to the people without a prescription from an authorized doctor. While reviewing the statistics of the quack doctors, who had been traced practicing in the province and the number of FIRs lodged against those quacks, the SHC noticed a huge difference between the number of quacks and the police cases registered against them. The court ordered that the action should not be taken against only quack, but it should be applicable to those licensed doctors also, whose names was being used in clinics or hospitals of the quack.
