KARACHI: Jim Leacy, who once headed the world snooker body, is back when he won the vice-president slot during the elective annual general body meeting of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) held at Doha recently. According to details available here, Leacy polled 37 votes as against 24 secured by the outgoing vice-president Maxime Classis.
In an other contest, incumbent secretary Mohammed El Kammah was re-elected on the post when he defeated Mohammed Leysi convincingly. The former seized 44 votes while the latter could only manage 16. President of the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) Mubarak Al-Khayarin and incumbent IBSF treasurer Michael Alkhoury have already been elected unopposed as president and treasurer respectively. At the outset, the AGM adopted a motion increasing the term of the office-bearers from two to four years on the lines of Olympic movement. The term of the newly elected office-bearers now expires in 2020 Meanwhile, Malta will play host to the next World Snooker Championship in 2017 while Egypt will serve as a venue for the World Team and 6-Reds Championships.
