Legendary fast-bowler Wasim Akram on Thursday remarked Sri Lanka’s young pacemen need to develop the ability to move the ball laterally in the air.
The former Pakistan captain is in Sri Lanka these days on the invitation of the country’s cricket board to groom the young crop of fast bowlers.
After spending several hours during a session at Colombo’s famous SSG Cricket Club, Akram said, “Most of the bowlers had a pace of 130 to 140 kmph.
“The slower wickets in South Asia are a reality, particularly in Sri Lanka. But there is no reason why fast bowlers could not thrive on them. They need the right tricks up the sleeve.
“The idea is to teach them how to believe in themselves and how to fox out the batsmen.”
