ISLAMABAD: The administration of Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) has suspended the Waste Management Committee in-charge and other members over the corruption charges and failed to burn the waste content of hospital into insulator. It further revealed that hospital administration has formed a new investigation committee in order to inquire the whole matter.

According to information available with Daily Times that Administrator PIMS Dr Zafar Altaf has suspended the WM Committee including the in-charge Deputy Director indoor Dr Faisal, member Shahid Khattak, Ward-boy Nazir Quershi and Nursing Superintendent Zafar Chana.

Ironically, PIMS administration did not sideline the Head of the WM Committee and Chief Nurse Farzana Islam because of her influence over the top hierarchy of PIMS.

Sources told this scribe that Chief Nurse Farzana Islam is a powerful person and hospital administration did not act against her despite getting a number of complaints for negligence in her working.

When the Daily Times contacted Administrator PIMS Dr Zafar Altaf, he said that hospital administration will not bear the corruption charges and any kind of negligence in duty.

Waste management committee is not picking the waste of hospital on proper time so thats why we suspend the whole members of the committee, Dr Altaf Zafar added.

“We have received numerous complaints of corruption against the committee member so a new inquiry committee has been formed to dig out the matter”, he concluded.
