Vehicular collision kills six, injures four in Khanpur

At least six commuters were killed while four sustained severe injuries in a head collision between a fast moving car and a passenger coach next to Nim Moor [diversion]. The incident occurred owing to over speeding at Khanpur-Shikarpur, in the vicinity of Khanpur Police Station, approximately 30 kilometers off from here, on Tuesday.

Gulsher Sethar, the In-charge 15 Shikarpur, told this scribe that all of car occupants identified as Morakhi, Hajani, Darya Khatoon-all married- and Shahzado, Qaimuddin and car driver Ali Sher, all Gola by caste, residents of Kashmore-Kandhkot district. The head collision took place with passenger coach heading to Karachi from Peshawar while car was heading towards Kashmore from somewhere. The four passengers named Ameer Badshah, Laiba, Saleema and Nadia sustained severe wounds in a fatal collision adding coach driver and its cleaner managed to escape from place of incident.

Following on the information, 15 police and Khanpur police rushed on the spot and transported the bodies to Taluka Headquarters Hospital for postmortem and handed over to their heirs after completing necessary medical legal formalities. The injured were referred to Shikarpur District Headquarters Hospital Shikarpur for further medical assistance where their condition was said to be out of danger.

Khanpur police have taken the coach and car into their custody and started investigation into the incident.

No case was registered till filling of this news story.

Separately, Two minor brothers identified as Syed Jahangir Ali Shah, of 08, & Syed Jaan Muhammad Shah, of 06, son of Sayed Sajjad Ali Shah were drowned to death into fish pond when they were taking bath into deep water to beat the heat. Their bodies were fished out by divers after tremendous efforts and shifted to Civil Hospital Shikarpur from where their bodies handed over to their heirs.

Besides, A young cop identified as Junaid Ahmed Brohi was killed in road accident when he was coming from Lakhi Ghulam Shah to Shikarpur city after completing his duty in front of C&S Degree College Shikarpur at Sukkur-Shikarpur road.

Area police shifted the body to DHQ Hospital and handed over to his heirs after completing necessary formalities.

In another incident, three Qambrani tribesmen were gunned down when who were allegedly plotting a plan to attack their rival Marfani Community of village Salaro Marfani over an old hostility in the limits of Dilawar Marfani Police Station, on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

Farooque Amjad, Assistant Superintendent of Police Shikarpur, when contacted by this correspondent said that according to initial reports Qambrani tribesmen were to attack on the village while Marfani community men were already vigilant due to their deadly hostility. Three Qambrani men identified as Nabi Bakhsh, Muhammad Saddique and Rohilo were killed on the spot over an old hostility between two groups of Haji Muhammad Nawaz Marfani and Deewal Qambrani it once again developed two years ago for allegedly killing Dilbar Qambrani.

Area police rushed on the spot and moved the bodies to Garhi Yasin Hospital for postmortem and handed over to their heirs after conducting autopsies.

Farooque further elaborated that police is trying its level best to overcome deadly conflicts between communities and in this regard we have made comprehensive plan and he was certain that deadly disputes would be eliminated from grass route level for the welfare of the people of Shikarpur.

Another question regarding four kidnappees including three Mirani community persons and one Chachar community man, he said that Mirani community persons have enmity with their community men owing to which their three persons have been attacked while who would be released soon, he concluded.

After increasing incidents of kidnapping, raise in deadly disputes notables of Shikarpur expressed their concerns and demanded the Inspector General of Police, Additional Inspector General of Police Jamil Ahmed, DIG Larkana Irfan Ali Baloch and other high ups to take serious notice of deteriorating condition of law and order situation in Shikarpur.
