KARACHI: Karachiites may have two options when they plan get together whether it’s a question of bonding over food or hanging out for movies. As Multiplex Cinemas are enchanting every one to visit but every one simply can not afford it.
Watching movies on the Multiplex Cinema’s screen is really interesting and great entertainment, but this entertainment has not been easy and accessible even on festivals for people. Multiplex Cinema has been out of reach to middle class due to their expensive tickets, which are available for Rs 500 of normal Cinema, Rs 1000 for Royal Cinema. The exorbitantly high prices for middle class make it less attractive as it is not a piece of cake to spend Rs 1000 per head for only watching movie.
In addition, if someone goes to the cinema, the person needs to have extra money upto Rs 500, as the refreshment makes the part movie entertainment. The food items like pop corn, fries as well as soft drink are sold on high rates which are again not affordable to all.
On the other hand as single screen cinemas are being demolished and only few remain operational in metropolis but the services they provide is very poor. Enjoyment of watching movie at Multiplex Cinema can never be compared with them by any means, according to cinema goers .
“Despite paying million of taxes to the government, not due facilities were given to cinemas”, Old cinema owners said
In Pakistan, Lollywood (Pakistan film industry), releases movies especially only on festivals because they know that movies can do super-duper business. Despite being expensive people may have very less chance to have tickets without booking on festivals in any cinema that is why they go houseful on every occasion and holidays.
Ahmed Ashfaq, teacher who came with his fellows to watch movie in 3D Cinema told Daily Times that once in a year they can afford this type of extravaganza but government must take step to make entertainment cheaper and accessible to every citizen.
“It has been my first experience to watch movie although it is expensive but I must advise others that it is somewhat a more exclusive option for moviegoers to visit the theatre and enjoy watching movie in fascinating atmosphere with fantastic food court in peaceful environment”, Arshi viewed after watching movie in 3D cinema.
Discourse to provide facilities to viewers through cinema revolution seems unreal until t is made approachable and affordable to every citizen of Pakistan.
