Ceremony held to pay respects to Major Shabbir Sharif (NH)

LAHORE: A ceremony was held at Miani Sahib Graveyard on the martyrdom anniversary of Major Shabbir Sharif who laid down his life while defending the country, 46 years ago in the 1971 war.

Former Army Chief, General (r) Raheel Sharif along with his family attended the ceremony and laid floral wreath and offered Fateha on the Mazar of the decorated army officer.

General Officer Commanding Major General Fida Hussain Malik was the chief guest of the ceremony.

It is pertinent to mention that Major Shabbir Sharif is a recipient of Sword of Honour, Sitara-e-Jurat and Nishan-e-Haider thus he remains one of the most decorated officer of the Pakistan Army and holds the unique record of received the three most coveted awards of Pakistan Army.
