Opp will make a decision on ‘charter of economy’: Zardari

Former president Asif Ali Zardari said on Sunday that the joint opposition would make a decision about charter of economy.

To a question about Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz’s criticism of the charter of economy, Zardari said: “Maryam Bibi is our daughter. Our ideology is that it is for the joint opposition to take whatever decision. There won’t be any single party’s decision.”

Condemning the arrest of a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate from South Waziristan, Zardari termed it beginning of pre-poll rigging.

Zardari urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure the early release of Imran Wazir, the PPP’s election candidate. “The arrest put a question mark on the credibility of ECP and transparency in the upcoming election.” He said that detentions could not demoralise the PPP’s supporters.

Daughter of the former president, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, met her father inside the Parliament House in presence of other Pakistan People’s Party leaders on Sunday.

Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari met Asif Ali Zardari at Parliament House in presence of Faisal Sakhi Butt, Qayyum Soomro and Rukhsana Bangash. The duo discussed the overall political situation of the country during the meeting.
