CDU re-elects Merkel to lead it into 2017 polls

ESSEN: German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday secured blessings of her party – Christian Democratic Union (CDU) – to lead it into next year’s elections.

With one of the poorest results in the history of such polls, 89.5% of CDU’s delegates voted for her to remain at the helm.
