Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Saturday that former rulers had done nothing during their governments for the people.

“The alliance of opposition political parties is only aimed at protecting the looted wealth. For this purpose, opposition political parties are focusing on personal interests. The opposition has no agenda,” he said in a statement.

“All corrupt elements are just worried to protect their looted wealth. The cancer of corruption has pushed the country backwards. Corrupt elements will not be allowed to abstract the path of progress of the nation. On which grounds the corrupt elements are now talking to the people. Pakistan would not be facing such a huge burden of loans if corruption has not been done by the former rulers. Those who have looted the national wealth have to give answer of their crimes. The elimination of corruption, loot and nepotism are necessary for the progress in the country.”

CM Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the government had started a jihad against the corrupt mafia. “Pakistan will be made free from corruption under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The nation has attached hopes with Imran Khan and he is the voice of the hearts of people of Pakistan. Therefore, the government is doing indiscriminate accountability of corrupt elements. Those who have looted the country have no future. We have resolved to improve the condition of weak segments of the society and the country will be rescued from the quagmire of loans with the help of the people. The government is making efforts for welfare and progress of the common man and the public welfare is our mission. The whole nation supports our mission. The government is working on the policy to support the poor segment of the society. Health, education, and housing are the basic rights of every citizen. The only job of opposition is to make noise. Befitting response will be given to undemocratic methods of the opposition and the unnatural alliance of the opposition parties will die soon,” he said.

CM orders crackdown: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday ordered a crackdown against the theft of canal water. He issued instructions to the Irrigation Department to start a special campaign against people involved in the water theft. “Until now, action has only been taken against 2,995 people for water theft. A total of 1,188 FIRs have been registered against the people involved in the water theft. Only 381 people have been arrested,” he said.

Buzdar said the canal water theft was a punishable crime. “Therefore, effective measures should be taken to control the water theft and the people involved in this crime deserve no leniency. Indiscriminate action should be taken against the people involved in the canal water theft. Police and the administration at the division and district level should take more effective measures to make the campaign against water theft successful and the committees set up at the tehsil level should also be activated and report regarding the action against the canal water theft should be submitted to the Chief Minister Office,” he said.

He said first time in the history of Punjab it had been ensured that the canal water reached every farmer. The chief minister also praised the performance of the Irrigation Department officials during the campaign against the water theft.
