The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has decided to initiate a movement with the slogan of ‘Karachi ko izzat duo‘ [give respect to Karachi] adding a “Karachi Awami March” is to be scheduled in this regard from Sohrab Goth to Mazar-e-Quaid on June-30. This was announced by the JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman while addressing a crowded press conference at Idara-e-Noor Haq here on Friday.
The JI leaders Dr Osama Razi, Abdul Wahab, Younus Barai, Zahid Askari and others were also present on the occasion. Addressing the press conference, Hafiz Naeem said that the JI Chief Senator Siraj-ul-Haq would deliver address to the participants of “Karachi Awami March on June-30, adding that an effective campaign before the march would be started in which camps would be setup across the city, door-to-door contact and rallies would be taken out from different areas of the metropolis.
“We have decided to speed up our struggle for the basic rights of the people of Karachi, as the federal, provincial and city governments do not playing their due role to resolve the issues of the masses”, Hafiz Naeem added.
He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have completely failed to deliver, adding the Karachi has been ignored badly in the federal and provincial budget-2019-20.
“Jamaat-e-Islami wil not let the Karachiites alone in the time of need and will take each and every step in the light of the democracy for attaining the rights to the people of Karachi”, Hafiz Naeem added.
He said the K-4 greater water project has become a bone of contention for the federal and provincial governments and they are not ready to complete the said project, which was started in the reign of city nazim Niamatullah Khan Advocate.
Hafiz Naeem further said that the government is favoring K-Electric-a power supply company, which was plundering the billions of rupees from the people of Karachi, adding the government is releasing a subsidy of Rs75billion to KE, which is a sheer injustice with the masses.
Commenting on KMC bad situation, Hafiz Naeem said that the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar has also failed to deliver the masses and only manages to seek powers instead of performing for the people of Karachi.
“Mayor has approved three budgets of Rs26billion each, but where the allocated funds had gone? What about the budget and funds being allotted for DMCs”? He questioned. The JI leaders demanded a transparent inquiry by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the embezzlement in KMC funds.
