OKARA: Pakistan’s first commercial biogas plant was inaugurated Tuesday by United States Consul General Yuriy Fedkiw and Punjab Livestock Minister Asif Saeed Manais.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Nestle-Pakistan, working together through the Dairy and Rural Development Foundation (DRDF), collaborated with the ministry in the construction of the unit. The plant will yield significant benefits, including electricity generation for agricultural production, cooking gas and manure production. The inauguration took place at the government-owned Bahadur Nagar Farm in Okara, with the dignitaries joined by Nestle Pakistan Ltd Chairman Syed Yawar Ali, Okara DCO Soqrat Aman, Okara DPO Faisal Rana and Okara Assistant Commissioner Maham Asif Malik.
