PTI councillors move PHC for equitable distribution of funds

MANSEHRA: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Councillors have moved Abbottabad circuit bench of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against District Nazim and demanded fair and equal distribution of development funds.

“We have moved PHC seeking the equal distribution of development funds among treasury and opposition benches as well as in female councillors elected on seats reserved for women,” Ambreen Swati, the district councilor of PTI, told reporters on Tuesday.

The judge has fixed December 13 for hearing the case and summoned District Nazim and other stakeholders to appear in the court.

“We have met the District Nazim and his team to evolve such a strategy that both treasury and opposition councilors are given equal funds but it couldn’t happen and we moved the court seeking distribution of funds under Local Government Act 2013,” said Swati.

She said the petition was moved in court on behalf of all opposition members of her party through opposition leader in district council Shahid Rafique.

The PTI, the only opposition party in district council, had protested and staged walkout against what they alleged unfair and unequal distribution of funds last month.

KP Govt’s measures made KP a favourite area for foreign investments: Minister for Education and Energy Muhammad Atif Khan has said that the measures taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government have made the KP a favourite area for the foreign investments.

The minister expressed these views on Tuesday in a meeting with Chinese investors’ group in Peshawar.

Atif Khan said that the current government had paved all the ways to revitalize the interest of the foreign groups for investment in different fields, especially in the energy sector in KP to invest.

He said that foolproof security steps have been taken for the groups intend to expand the potentialities of the province for the development of the province.

The provincial minister formally invited the Chinese group to land their investment interest in the energy sector of the province adding that KP government had already offered foreign investors seven new energy projects, capable of generating 668 megawatt of electricity.

He said that response of the investors for the projects was satisfactory as the government was focusing on clinching more and more opportunities for the province in various sectors that can be explored in the near future.

Feasibility reports indicated that hydro-power has more potential and is cost effective compared to the environmentally unfriendly thermal power generating technologies.

He said that most of the projects in this regard were in given the final touches and no compromise over security and merit would be taken out for the better interest of the province.

KP Govt committed to provide support for uplift and revival of sports: Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani on Tuesday said the PTI-led government is committed to provide every possible support for uplift and revival of sports in the province.

He expressed these views as chief guest during 40th All Pakistan Inter University Handball Championship at University of Swabi.

Keeping in view the importance of Sports and as part of its vision, Mushtaq Ghani said the PTI led provincial government is establishing sports ground at Tehsil level and sports complex at district. He said the sports facilities are also being provided at government schools across the province for healthy future of the nation.

Appreciating the Handball Championship, he said such events are good opportunity for the people of diverse culture to come closer to each other. He said the present government invigorated the sports sector that was adversely affected due to militancy and terrorism during previous regimes. He said youth is asset of the nation and for the first time in the history of this province the present government approved the Youth Policy to provide a platform to youth to use their talent in every field of life.
