MUMBAI: Bollywood is quite infamous for making mushy films and actor Ranveer Singh has said Bollywood makes bad rom-coms, and is yet to make a pure romantic-comedy. The actor, who will be next seen in Aditya Chopra’s ‘Befikre’, said rom-coms end up being a love story at the end of the film, Hindustan Times reports.
“In Hindi cinema, rom-coms don’t stay rom-coms because what starts off is a rom-com and at some point it becomes a love story,” Ranveer told reporters during a promotional event of ‘Befikre’.
Ranveer said his new release will break that stereotype with its original material written by Chopra. “So far, we’ve seen in rom-coms that during the interval there would be some conflict and it will precipitate the entire second half and then by the third act somebody is dealing with heavy emotions and drama gets really high. But ‘Befikre’ is a true blue Hindi romantic comedy and that is our attempt and Adi sir’s especially.”
