The FIR had been filed by the victim’s father, Ahmad Shair. He had told police that Shehzad along with his accomplice, Muhammad Ahmad, had attacked his son. “They overpowered my son and beat him up with their fists. Shehzad then tried to strangle my son. Later, he threw him on the road. My son’s head hit the road and he was seriously injured. He later died of his wounds,” the complainant stated in the FIR.
The trial court had acquitted Ahmed. However, Shehzad was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 14-years rigorous imprisonment. The court also ordered him to pay an amount of Rs 19,23,843 as Diyat to the legal heirs of the deceased. Shehzad then filed an appeal in the LHC.
