Snowfall disrupts air traffic in Chinese airport

SHENYANG: Heavy snowfall disrupted air traffic in Chinese Liaoning Province’s Shenyang city, local authorities said on Thursday.

The snowstorm started on Thursday morning and continued until the afternoon.The snow piled up to 9.6 millimetres high after 10 hours of continuous snowing.

98 flights to or from Shenyang Taoxian International Airport have been delayed – stranding over 1,000 passengers – airport sources said. According to sources, the airport remained un-operational for at least an hour, while eighteen snow removal trucks and some 100 people have been sent to clear the runways.
